Xiao Xiao

Visiting Researcher

Xiao Xiao is Director of the Institute for Future Technologies (IFT) at De Vinci Higher Education in Paris-La Défense and Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab. She leads the Creative Technology major and the Human Learning innovation group.

Her research explores how AI and XR can intersect with music and embodied learning to evoke and amplify resonance in human communication and co-creation. She is the creator of MirrorFugue, an augmented piano installation that brings a pianist’s presence across time, and her work examines how technologies can engage not only cognition but also imagination and emotional experience.

As both researcher and artist, Xiao is a pianist and thereminist, approaching technology as a medium for presence, creativity, and attunement.
