Michelle is an artist-researcher designing architectures of care. She creates experimental interfaces that support spatial belonging, collective well-being, and scaling wonder.
She is the founder & CEO of Akiya Collective, a non-profit and community-driven initiative that revitalizes abandoned houses in rural Japan (akiya) into art installations and alternative community spaces. She operates a R&D lab developing prototypes for flourishing, public goods for the 21st century, and new forms of social technologies.
Her previous projects include work in participatory design, genAI x mental health, sensor technologies, large-scale art installations, 3D animation and fabrication, biosensor art, biodegradable textiles and live visual performances. Her work has been featured on Business Insider, NPR, Vox Media (Now This), ABC, CNET, The Independent, BBC, and more.
