Henkaku Center Researcher Sophia Wang awarded 2026 Rhodes Scholarship
We are excited to announce that Henkaku Center Researcher Sophia Wang has been awarded a 2026 Rhodes Scholarship, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious scholarships for study at the University of Oxford.

Sophia is an engineer, institution-builder, and policy analyst. Joined Henkaku Center in April 2025, she has been building an international network of academic institutions and developing coordination technologies and legal frameworks for new jurisdictions through the Coordination Technology Consortium.
Sophia began her work in complex systems as an aerospace engineer at NASA, contributing to exoplanet detection missions, Mars Sample Return, and early demonstrations of self-assembling spacecraft. Her experiment-driven, first-principles approach now guides her work in national technology policy and emerging market analysis.
She also served as a global ambassador for the Fab Foundation, where she helped develop creative prototyping tools adopted across its 2,500+ digital fabrication labs worldwide. Outside her research, Sophia studies food systems as both a chef and agricultural technologist.
Congratulations, Sophia!
